August 29 - International Day Against Nuclear Tests
• On 2 December 2009, the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly declared
29 August the International Day against Nuclear Tests by unanimously adopting
resolution 64/35. The resolution calls for increasing awareness and education “about the
effects of nuclear weapon test explosions or any other nuclear explosions and the need for
their cessation as one of the means of achieving the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free
world.”
August 29 – National Sports Day
• National Sports Day 2019 is being celebrated on 29 August across India. The Sports Day
of India marks the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand,
who was born on August 29 in the year 1905.

49th Foundation Day of BPRD
• Union Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah, presided over the 49th Foundation Day
of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) as Chief Guest in New Delhi on
August 28.Shri Shah unveiled the Golden Jubilee Logo of BPRD in the function. He also
distributed Union Home Minister‟s Medal for Excellence in Police Training and Pandit
Govind Ballabh Pant Puraskar for Hindi Writing.
